Erin graduated from Glasgow University in 2008 and the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp in Belgium in 2011, and since then she has been doing a combination of humanitarian work with MSF and expeditions in between her NHS jobs where she’s been training in emergency medicine.
In 2011/12, Erin did a 3-month expedition in Borneo with Raleigh International, and then her first MSF mission was as the burns doctor in Haiti in Drouillard hospital, Port au Prince. In 2015 Erin was expedition medic for a group of artists working with the Clipperton project in the Peruvian Amazon, and shortly afterwards left for Central African Republic with MSF where she was the hospital doctor responsible for the doctors working in the ER, the post-op surgical wards, the HDU and the sexual violence clinic for 6 months. In 2017 in she spent 6 1/2 weeks in Northern Syria working as ER doctor in Kobane hospital and in the refugee camps outside Raqqa. Erin is currently based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary emergency department, another kind of war zone (especially on a Saturday night).
