Pippa Letchworth is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at St Marys Hospital Paddington, London. She has a specialist interest in global maternal health and education and has worked for Medicines Sans Frontiers throughout her training. Pippa has recently returned from a mission with MSF in northern Nigeria, an area with one of the worst maternal mortalities in the world. She worked for Medicines Sans Frontiers throughout her training and has completed missions in Sierra Leone, Northern Pakistan and DRC.
Pippa has run, adapted and delivered teaching courses as a teaching fellow in London for 5 years, but also globally in Sierra Leone, Uganda, Transkei in South Africa, Bangladesh and India. She has been regular faculty for the STAE course since 2014 (Surgical Training for the Austere Environment) and was a founder member of the ‘trainees global health committee’ at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Additionally, she is published in obstetric fistula and innovation.
Pippa has also produced a series of educational videos for maternal health care, which are free online educational resources appropriate for low and middle-income countries on key maternal health interventions: perineal repair, surgical management of PPH, neonatal resuscitation and destructive craniotomy. These have had a global audience and over 1 million views on Youtube.
